Once upon a time, there was a great giant of a tree in front of the quaint red cottage at Pickity Place. The cottage and giant White Ash tree were chosen by Elizabeth Orton Jones, a.k.a 'Twig', as the model for her illustrations in Little Red Riding Hood (Little Golden Books, 1948).
In December of 2020, our famous and beloved White Ash Tree came down in pieces during the middle of a snowy and stormy night. Owners Keith and Kim Grimes reluctantly decided it was time for the 176 year old tree to be removed and would save the ten foot tall trunk of the tree to be transformed into a Free Book Library. Book donations are welcomed, but please remember that if the library shelves are full, please take a book if you leave a book. Thank you!
